This was the second year for the Vans Backyard miniramp contest at South Parc in Montreal. It was another great contest that brought skaters from all over Canada and as far away as California. The ramp had some additions made to make things more interesting as if the ramp wasn't already pretty intense. The atmosphere was great and it probably had to do with the BBQ out back and Coors Light that was flowing ice cold or the session on the ramp was pretty chill until contest time. While sitting back and nursing a sprained ankle enjoying a cold one, it became apparent who were the main contenders to win this contest, bets were placed and I was right. Andrew Langi walked away with the $8,000 cheque with smooth lines and technical coping lip disco while making every trick look effortless. Riley Boland who won last year came in 2nd and did the biggest bomb drop I have ever seen. Nathan Lacoste finished in 3rd and the rest in the top 10 must have been difficult to judge. I can't wait to see what is in store for next year.
